Stiinta Explorari started the year with a defeat at home in front of SCMU Craiova. Having serious team issues, the hosts played equal to equal to the Olt band only in the second set which, with a little luck, they could have won.

Marius Botea (Stiinta Exporation Coach): ′′We didn't play bad, but we met a very good team, fighting for the title. Even though our financial situation has improved considerably, we have big lot problems. In this match we played the whole match with Andrei Crisan and Andrei Butnaru, players under 23 who did very well for their age.

Dragos Raileanu (Captain Stiinta Explorari): ′′We could have won the 2nd set, but we lacked luck. We have a thin team this season and all we have left is to train and try to gather as many points as possible".
