El palo Canario

El Palo Canario is a game that came from ancient traditions of the elder Canarians. It was the result of the evolution of warlike activities. There are two participants that fight with sticks but without contact with the body of the adversary. For a resume, it is like fencing with a stick in their hands. The main differences are the size of the stick and there are 3 categories: small stick (palo chico), medium stick (palo mediano) or garrote/big stick (garrote or palo grande). The game does not have an explicit form of termination.

The stick has always been associated with some determinate functions, as defense, animal handling and support for wandering around paths and ravines.
