Mizuno Beach Volley Marathon Tournament takes place yearly in May and September, in Bibione (Italy). For 3 days, beach volleyball is being played on over installed 100 courts. The tour is an open one and last year it has been declared to be the biggest world sportive event dedicated to beach volleyball.
The categories are 2x2 and 3x3 for masculine and feminine, respectively 4x4 mixed. The competition is divided in more stages, depending on the teams' level: Platinum (1st-192th places), Gold (193th-384th places), Silver (385th-576th places) and Bronze (577th-768th) places). No matter how many teams get subscribed in the competition, the qualifications for the final round allows only 768 teams to fight for the prizes offered, depending on the difficulty level they are in. Besides the special scoring and qualification system this competition brings foreground the fair-play through the arbitration system. Both in the groups and during the further qualifications, the other teams are as well the referees for the playing matches, except the finals.
The Misfits, formed by Csaba Nagy, Andrei Crișan and Mihai Popovici, participated for the first time at the spring tournament that happened between 24-26 May 2019, being subscribed for the 3x3 competition, together with other 688 teams from all around the world, mainly from Italy.
Having arrived from Wednesday, the guys had the chance to practice with several teams from Italy and Switzerland and to get used to the sand, the weather conditions and the fields put at their disposal. After 3 days of intensive preparations, the 3x3 competition has started.
The 3x3 competition took place in 2 stages, with Saturday, 25th may, for the groups, where 5 teams in the order of the subscriptions were a group, while Sunday, 26th May, in accordance to the number of won matches and lost points, the teams classified further in elimination matches for the qualifications. Worth to mention is that besides the finals (places 1-4), all the matches are actually consisted of a single set played by 21, with the possibility for ab extension up to 23 points.
The Misfits team managed to win all the 4 matches from the groups, having a coefficient of 2.4 (35 points lost in 4 matches) which took them directly on the 20th place in the Platinum category. The first 32 teams start the preliminary stage from the 33rd place, skipping over 4 matches, thus fighting directly for further places towards the final.
Unfortunately, The Misfits misses the further qualification chance loosing the match with La Tana Delle Tigri with 14-21 after a balanced match, where both teams have shown their desire to go further. Our team stops here and finishes the competition on the 33rd place in the Platinum group of 3x3 masculine, out of 689 registered teams at its start.

Misfits la Beach Volley Marathon 2019
Turneul Mizuno Beach Volley Marathon are loc anual in luna mai și septembrie, în Bibione, Italia. Timp de 3 zile se joacă volei de plajă pe cele peste 100 de terenuri amenajate. Turneul este unul de tip open, iar anul trecut a fost declarat ca fiind cel mai mare eveniment mondial sportiv dedicat voleiului pe plajă.
Categoriile sunt de 2x2 și 3x3 masculin și feminin, respectiv de 4x4 mixt. Competiția este împărțită în mai multe etape, în funcție de nivelul echipelor, astfel: platină (locurile 1-192), aur (locurile 193-384), argint (locurile 385-576), respectiv bronz (577-768). Indiferent câte echipe se înscriu în competiție, calificările pentru faza finală permite doar 768 de echipe să lupte pentru premiile puse la dispoziție în functie de grupul de dificultate în care sunt. Pe lângă sistemul de punctaj și calificare aparte, această competiție aduce în prim plan fair-playul prin modalitate de arbitrare. Atât în faza grupelor, cât și în calificările ulterioare, celelalte echipe sunt de altfel arbitrii jocurilor în curs, cu excepția finalelor.
Echipa The Misftis (Inadaptabilii) formată din Csaba Nagy, Andrei Crișan și Mihai Popovici au participat pentru prima dată la turneul de primăvară desfășurat între 24-26 mai 2019, înscriși fiind la proba de 3x3 masculin alături de alte 688 de echipe din întreaga lume, cu precădere din Italia.
Ajunși de miercuri, băieții au avut șansa să se antreneze cu câteva din echipele venite la competiție din Italia sau Elveția, dar și să se acomodeze cu nisipul, condițiile climatice și terenurile puse la dispoziție. După 3 zile intense de pregătire, s-a dat startul competiției de 3x3 la care au participat.
Competiția de 3x3 s-a desfășurat în două etape și anume sâmbătă, 25 mai, în faza grupelor cu câte 5 echipe formate în funcție de numărul primit la înregistrare (primele 5 formează o grupă, următoarele 5 altă grupă, etc.), iar duminică, 26 mai, în funcție de numărul de meciuri câștigate și golaverajul realizat, echipele s-au clasat în etapele cu meciuri eliminatorii. Demn de menționat că în afara finalelor (locurile 1-4), toate meciurile sunt de fapt consituite dintr-un singur set jucat până la 21, cu posibilitate de prelungire doar până la 23 de puncte.
Echipa The Misfits a reușit să câștige toate cele 4 meciuri disputate în faza grupei, având un coeficient de 2,4 (35 de puncte pierdute în 4 meciuri) ce i-a clasat direct pe locul 20 în categoria platină. Primele 32 de echipe din această categorie pornesc în etapa eliminatorie de pe poziția 33, sărind peste 4 meciuri, luptându-se astfel direct pentru locurile către finală.
Din păcate, The Misfits ratează șansa calificării mai departe pierzând cu echipa La Tana Delle Tigri cu 14-21 după un meci echilibrat, în care ambele echipe și-au arătat dorința de a trece mai departe. Echipa noastră se oprește aici și termină competiția pe poziția 33 în clasamentul grupei platină la 3x3 masculin, din totalul de 689 de echipe înscrise la start.
„Un turneu care ne-a dat pe spate din toate punctele de vedere, voluntarii și cei din organizarea turneului Mizuno, pregătiți și informați cu orice nelămuriri sau întrebări a avut nevoie echipa noastră. Pentru asta jos pălaria. O locație superbă cu o plajă și oameni faini cu care am reușit să rămânem prieteni, chiar să păstrăm legatura și după turneu. Despre party și amploarea acestuia, demențial, păcat ca Bibione este puțin departe de noi altfel v-am stresa mai des. Mulțumim pentru experiența de neuitat pe care ne-ați lăsat-o în amintirea echipei 'The Misfists’ au declarat băieții după competiție.
