Why volunteer international?

Joining the international volunteering community has many aspects to discover and here we can help to introduce you to some useful tools that will help you to have a constructive and rich experience.

• Put yourself in others’ shoes; that will help you to see the things as they see them which will lead you to understand their reaction and to get to know more about their intentions.

• Be a communicator; being an initiative communicator, don’t depend on guessing. Bearing in mind that you’re in an international community so you and the others have different backgrounds and what’s normal to you might not be that normal to others and vice versa.

• Always be curious; asking questions is the best way to get rid of the misunderstanding situations. “Why” is the simplest question you can ask and at the same time, it will help you understand the reason behind people's actions and reactions.

• Being different doesn’t mean we can’t live together; in such volunteering opportunities, you might meet people who are nothing like you but always find a common language and safe space between you. Always keep in mind that we all are human and we’re different and that’s the unique thing about us.

• Be yourself, don’t lose your uniqueness to be part of any community. Make sure such volunteering appreciates how different we are and encourage us to show it up and share it.

So far these are the things that I experienced myself and I hope it helps someone who is thinking to jump in and join this community.
